Pentland is a floating offshore wind project located off the Caithness coast, with landfall at Dounreay and a proposed operations and maintenance base at Scrabster.
Turning floating wind potential into reality
The Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm is being developed off the coast of Dounreay in Caithness. Once operational, the wind farm will have the capacity to generate enough renewable electricity to power up to 70,000 homes.
In 2026, the project secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) in the UK Government’s seventh CfD Allocation Round providing the certainty needed to progress Pentland towards delivery.
The project will deploy a range of innovative floating offshore wind technologies, helping to accelerate the industrialisation of floating offshore wind in the UK.
